1. Who is responsible for this data
This website (bticz.ballini.it) and the BTicz app are an independent, personal project ("BTicz Team", "we", "us"). For any privacy-related question or request, contact bticz@ballini.it.
2. The BTicz app
BTicz is a client app: it connects directly, over your local network or the internet, to a Domoticz server that you own or manage — never to a server run by us. As a result:
- We never receive, see, or store your devices, your Domoticz data, or your usage of the app.
- Your Domoticz host, username and password are stored only on your device, encrypted with your operating system's secure storage (Android Keystore on Android, protected credential storage on desktop). They are never sent to us or to any third party.
- The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no advertising.
- The only thing the app itself connects to over the internet, besides your own Domoticz server, is checking for the beta expiry date — this uses no personal data and contacts no external server, it's computed entirely on-device.
Since your Domoticz server and its data remain entirely under your control, you are the data controller for whatever personal data your own Domoticz installation processes (e.g. camera feeds, sensor logs) — BTicz is simply a window into it.
3. This website
The website you're reading right now:
- Does not use tracking or analytics cookies, and does not embed any third-party tracking script (no Google Analytics, no ad networks, no social media widgets).
- Stores exactly one thing in your browser's
localStorage:bticz_lang, remembering whether you picked English or Italian. This is strictly functional — it never leaves your browser, isn't used to track you, and doesn't require consent under EU ePrivacy rules. You can clear it anytime from your browser's site settings. - Is served by our hosting provider, which — like virtually any web server — keeps standard technical access logs (e.g. IP address, requested page, timestamp) for security and abuse-prevention purposes, for a limited retention period. We don't use these logs for tracking or profiling.
- Contains an outbound link to GitHub. If you click it, GitHub's own privacy policy applies from that point on — we don't share any data with GitHub ourselves.
- Counts downloads per platform (e.g. "Windows: 42 downloads") on our own server, so we know which platforms are actually used. This is a simple aggregate number, not tied to your IP address, browser, or any other identifier — we can't tell who downloaded what, only how many times each platform was downloaded in total.
4. If you email us
If you write to bticz@ballini.it, we'll see your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you, and don't share it with third parties or use it for marketing.
5. Your rights
If you're in the EU/EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export any personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Given how little we actually hold (see above — usually none beyond an email you sent us), these requests are simple: just email bticz@ballini.it. You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

We may update this policy from time to time; the version published on this page is always the current one. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
